Art Shack Gallery at Juan de Fuca Festival of the Arts (JFFA)
May 24-27, 2013
Because of the great opportunity to showcase the work of local artists at one of the major festival events in Port Angeles, and being able to provide experiential art interaction for festival attendees, the Port Angeles Arts Council and the Juan de Fuca Festival of the Arts have created a gallery and workshop space available to local artists at the festival. We will be displaying art at the meeting room to the right of the main entrance to the Vern Burton Conference Center, the central festival venue, connected to City Hall. The gallery is called Art Shack. Last year was our first year, and based on a positive response, we are offering this again, with some improvements.
The Art Shack will display art of any PAAC member, or any artist participating directly in the festival, including painting to live music, facilitating a workshop, or doing an artist demonstration. The number of pieces displayed by each artist will be determined by both the amount of display space available and the total number of artists participating. Last year we averaged about 6 pieces per artist. Art can be made available for sale, and no commission will be charged. Credit and debit card sales can be completed through the JFFA store, with JFFA retaining 5% for transaction fees.
We are looking for local artists to display 2d and 3d art at the festival, and volunteer their time for a 4 hour shift at the gallery. We ask that any artists participating do one 4 hour shift at the gallery, and become members of the Port Angeles Arts Council if they have not already joined. A one-year membership is $35.00. The form is available from the Arts
All art must be delivered to the Art Shack Gallery at Vern Burton on Friday, May 24th, between the hours of 11am and 3pm. Art must be picked up between the hours of 4-6pm on Monday, May 27th. If you are unable to deliver or pick up your art during these times, you are encouraged to find someone who can do that for you. Art will be displayed at the artist’s own risk, but the room will be staffed, and locked up after gallery hours, and security will be present at Vern Burton.
If you are interested in participating or have any questions please call me at 360-452-5911 or email me: fotos@olypen.com
